But Manhattan offers little choice when it comes to Indian sweets. The two stores selling Indian sweets Sukhadia's in Midtown West and Bhojan on Lexington Ave have closed.

If you crave Indian sweets like me, your best bet is to head to Jackson Heights, Hicksville (Long Island) or the Pakistani shops on Coney Island Ave in Brooklyn.

Whether it's Mango Barfi, Champakali, Chum Chum, Rasogolla, Gulab Jamun, Jalebi, Motichor Ladu, Pista-Almond Rolls, Kaju Katli or any of the gazillion varieties of Indian sweets, you get them all and more in Jackson Heights, Hicksville and Brooklyn.

Besides Indian mithai, NYC Indian sweets stores also peddle spicy snack items like pakora, mixture, plantain chips, boondi, muruku, kachori etc as well.
