No decent Indian meal is complete without mithai (sweets).
Either a North Indian Gajar Halwa or Gujarati Sreekhand or South Indian Bambino Payasam, Rice Kheer, Ariselu, Ladu, Mysore Pak or a Bengali Sandesh, Chum Chum, Champakali is a must for us after a spicy Indian meal.

But Manhattan offers little choice when it comes to Indian sweets. The two stores selling Indian sweets Sukhadia's in Midtown West and Bhojan on Lexington Ave have closed.
If you crave Indian sweets like me, your best bet is to head to Jackson Heights, Hicksville (Long Island) or the Pakistani shops on Coney Island Ave in Brooklyn.
